Cooders Spring Hick Chic 2006

Most folks think they ain't much to fashion for us hick-folk. To them it ain't nothin but flannel shirts and Levi's, but it ain't that simple. Not just any ole yank can pull off authentic hick style. This spring Hick is in and every occasion calls for a different style of what I like to call Hick Chic.

● Farming- While you're out all day ridin your tractor under the hot sun, you gotta dress for function not for fashion. You don't wanna wear a heavy flannel shirt or you'll be sweating like a hog at a pork factory. Instead I recommend something lighter, like an old white shirt that's seen its share of hard work and sun light. A good pair of overalls always works best to keep you protected from any sort of farming hazards like hen pecks or mule kicks, and on those real hot days, you can unbutton a strap or two to keep you cool. To top it all off I like to put on my old John Deere cap to keep my head protected from the sun.

● Hoe-Downs- Other occasions call for a much sharper hick. A sharp hick's gotta make sure his flannel's got few stains, his boots are shiny and his hair is slicked back just like the King used to have. Or if it's a more formal affair, no self-respecting Southerner would be caught dead without a good ole fashion cowboy hat. At any hoe-down you can expect there to be some line dancing so you best make sure you got on your best pair of blue jeans and the biggest belt buckle you got. My favorite's my "Everything's Bigger in Texas " belt buckle.

● Accessories- We may be simple folk but that don't mean we can't add a little flair to our style. A cowboy hat is an important part of any hicks wardrobe but there are many different ones to choose from. Course you can't go wrong with a classic Stetson cowboy hat.
